Director, WW Quality Management and R&D Tupperware Brands - Fribourg, Switzerland or Orlando


Job Description

Position Objective:

Responsible for overall Quality Assurance function for the global Tupperware Brands organization, including products manufactured by the Company and those sourced through third parties. Lead and direct the approach, testing and evaluation of new and current materials and third party sourcing partners / products to ensure Tupperware’s adherence to global regulatory requirements. Direct and ensure global adherence to Worldwide Quality Assurance standards for products and the consistent application of Quality Management systems.
To be based either in Fribourg, Switzerland or in our WW Headquarter in Orlando/US.

Specific Accountabilities:

Quality Management:

Develop overriding quality assurance strategy and standards for the global organization.
Perform quality audits and assess compliance of Tupperware's operations and products with the Worldwide Quality Standards and Procedures.
Direct the global Quality Assurance staff and provide guidance on developing state-of-the-art quality management practices.
Ensure conformity of products to Worldwide Quality Standards and assist global Quality Assurance staff in resolving deviations and complaints.
Provide guidance in establishing and achieving proper product standards during the industrialization of new products.
Maintain, review and distribute the Worldwide Quality Manual.
Establish Worldwide Quality Assurance objectives, in line with the Quality Assurance strategy. On an on-going basis, analyze and communicate the status to management.
Review and approve the quality of new products and third-party sourced products.
Keep abreast of and evaluate new trends in quality management.

R&D:

Review, select and approve the formulation of Research & Development programs.
Develop new materials and improve the performance of current materials resulting in new and innovative products. Support marketing and manufacturing projects by developing new and improved materials.
Ensure that Tupperware meets or exceeds all global regulatory requirements for polymers, additives and pigments and where required, work with Quality Assurance, to approve or certify appropriate materials.
Maintain awareness and evaluate, where appropriate, new and emerging polymer technologies by establishing professional relationships with Resin manufacturers, universities, professional societies and consulting organizations. Ensure that Tupperware is on the forefront of the newest developments and technologies.
Provide a source of expertise and information on materials for design, manufacturing and engineering.
Ensure that R&D objectives’ are met on time and communicate to management status of R&D projects on an ongoing basis.
Assess claims arising from competitors, inventors, patents or new technologies. Conduct pertinent tests to verify validity of claims, as necessary.
Manage the R&D budget.
Develop the R&D staff and sustain them on the cutting edge of technology by attending professional seminars, membership in professional societies and university level courses.
Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Vice President, Worldwide Supply Chain.

Regulatory

Must have a good understanding of the regulatory aspect of raw materials and additives as well as product safety around the world

Conduct quality assurance audit and develop action plans with the local units to improve the matters

Maintain and improve regulatory compliance status with various regulatory agencies

Develop relationships with various regulatory agencies in key major markets that Tupperware Brands conduct business.
Desired Skills & Experience

Education and Experience:
· A pharmacist or an industrial pharmacist with a good chemical background, related bachelor degree plus MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or Technology with a good understanding of the medical factor to the human body.
· MBA preferred
· 7 -10 years of related industrial experience in Quality Assurance and R&D.
Special Skills:
· Advanced knowledge of quality systems, control processes and practices
· Broad management skills, capable of interfacing with all levels of personnel at operating units and corporate.
· Excellent analytical and communication skills. Ideal candidate must be able to speak English, German and French
